I have received several emails from people I know and with legitimate messages from them. However the To: line has my real Mail address but with "Viagra®Official Site" added. When I start typing in my address in a new message, the V... stuff is automatically added to my real address. I checked my mail account and the address is correct there. There are no user accounts added to my MacPro in System Preferences. Is this a virus? Is it serious or just an annoyance? I'm reluctant to send any messages through this account because of infecting other computers, and/or being embarrassed.

It's not a virus. It's just spam. Either an email account was hacked, due to a weak password, or your address was just spoofed. When you type your address in, the autocomplete feature is pulling the address from your contact list. Just go to Window > Address Panel and remove any addresses that you don't want there.
There has never been a virus in the wild that runs on Mac OS X. The handful of trojans that exist can be easily avoided with some education and common sense and care in what software you install:
I think the autocomplete is probably coming from the list in "Window > Previous Recipients"
... except the OP said they received the emails, indicating that they didn't send them out. Previous Recipients are those who the OP has sent mail to, not received it from.
