Hello,

This is my first post, and I'm asking for help!

Back in July (prior to iCloud launch), the functionality to access my email aliases disappeared completely from my desktop mail application.
They are however, fully visible and useable over iCloud.

I've been a .mac/MobileMe/iCloud user for nearly 10 years, and carry the full compliment of 5 aliases of which I make daily and frequent use.

Apple do not seem to be able to offer me any form of explanation (I've spoken to ay least 5 different "senior" MobileMe advisors with no positive outcome or resolution.
I'v tried a number of workarounds, but nothing as yet works.

Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
Any suggestions welcome.

Many thanks
Tim

In the Mail preferences under the Accounts tab when you click on your iCloud account, do you see all of your aliases listed to the right of your main email in the Email Addresss box? They should all be listed there and separated by commas.

The answer is no, and unfortunately this is one of the workarounds suggested by the Apple team, but it doesn't actually provide a full solution:

Yes, I can manually add the alias addresses, BUT when it then comes to using them, the ALL appear as the "parent" name, which in my opinion sort of defeats the purpose. Here's what I mean:

Parent Name (myemail@mac.com)
Parent Name (alias1@mac.com)
Parent Name (alias2@mac.com)

... and so on, as opposed to what USED to happen, and where I want to get back to, which is:

Parent Name (mayemail@mac.com)
Alias 1 (alias1@mac.com)
Alias 2 (alias2@mac.com)

This functionality is still available over iCloud.
It just simply disappeared from Mail.

Any further thoughts?

Many thanks for your help

I'm having the same issue.

Apple support hasn't provided a solution for me yet, other than "wait for an update for mac mail":(

The aliases work fine on iCloud and on my iOS devices.
Also to my astonishment my wife who as her own profile on the same machines (iMac and MBA), her aliases work as they are supposed to!

I have deleted one of the aliases and then made the same one again, but no change.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance:)

I seem to recall confirmation on MM earlier this year, that with the 'switch off' and migration to iCloud looming, the ability to add/delete/edit alias addresses had been switched off. They still continue to work of course, you just can't make any changes to them via MM.

It doesn't explain the lack of consistency with your wife's profile, but it's very likely related and just a glitch as they're winding down MM.

I made the transition from MM to iCloud last fall and everything worked perfectly, including the aliases...

The problem started like two months ago, after a mac mail upgrade/patch perhaps.I just can't figure out which one.

Hope they switch on whatever was switched off:rolleyes:
