When you add a attachment to mail why does it show the attchment? Can you have it just a little pic at the buttom or do I have to stuff everything just to get that?

I know -- this is soooo annoying! Especially when it shows a huge picture of a scan JPG or a PDF. But sometimes it does for me and sometimes it doesn't. You can right-click it and set it back to an icon but I couldn't find a default setting. :(

I just mean you can right click (or control-click) and there's a "view as icon" -- the last option. But don't know how to make it default.

Oh, and I figured out one of my own confusion. View in place only happens to PDFs if they're only one page long, FWIW.
