So, I replied to an editorial from the NYT and the writer replied back...I noticed, on my MBP that next to my name was a icon photo of me! Not sure if this actually went out but nowhere in Mail do a find a 'allow/ don't allow' for sending photos (which I don't want to do). Can anyone help me with this? I don't see a setting to prevent it....also, this is the first time I've noticed it...Using 2017 MBP with OS Big Sur 11.2.3. Thanks for any suggestions.

It’s just pulling from Contacts. Nothing is sent to the other party. Add their address to your contacts and set a photo of your choosing and it’ll appear there too.
So...thanks again but...can you show me how you know this? Also, why pull it from Contacts for 'me' and why haven't I seen this before? Makes me think I did something different which I can't pinpoint. Would appreciate any further thoughts you may have on this ......

Set up a temporary email address and email it. Does your photo arrive? This feature has been long available in Mail, I can't say why you only now see it.

Open "Help" in Mail.

See "Show people’s pictures in Mail on Mac".
