Hello, looking for an alternative to native Mail app on my Mac. I was pleased with it until I had to start using IMAP-based mail provider. I need to be able to label and move to appropriately catalogue all emails arriving for this account (let's call it Work Account), including ones I have read on my phone during the day. Let me explain it better. I read emails for the Work Account at home and on my phone. When the email arrives while I work at home, there is no problem, the Mail labels and moves the emails according to the Rules set. Trouble arises when I'm on the go, and I read the Work Account email on my phone. When the account is synchronized, Mail does not label or move the email because it's already been marked "read". I can apply Rules to the Inbox upon return, and then the emails are appropriately labelled and moved.
So I can continue doing this manual clean-up, but I'm eager to know if other, alternative apps exist that will apply simple Rules even to email read on other devices.

Let me also add that I can't change email provider and they do not offer POP. Their filtering system is not robust enough to provide appropriate filtering at the server-site of things.

Thanks

Have you tried manually re-applying your rules? There's a menu item under Message, which means it will only apply to the currently selected message. However, nothing stops you from hitting ⌘+A and then ⌘ + ⌥ + L to apply the rules to all messages.

I know it's not an answer to your question per se but maybe it can serve as a workaround until you find a better solution.

Thanks. Yes it works when done manually, it's just annoying, so I hope there is an app that takes care of it automatically.

A process I’ve used over time and it seems to work: if your IMAP email provider has a web interface, set up your rules there. Then when your emails come in, they will be routed to the proper folders on the IMAP server. That way, whichever device you read your mail with will already see the emails sorted into the proper folders.

I don’t have any rules specified on any email client.
