Mail app and certificates

Hello,

I have multiple emails based on different servers. Not all have an uptodate certificate. I know this is a problem with the mail servers.

However, Apple mail is just killing me continuously asking to verify the server certificates. I cannot do anything about getting these updated, and having OSX ask me daily to verify is just driving me up the wall.

Is there anyway to get Mail app to just accept the insecure certificate once and for all ?

My only other choice is to forget the certificate check alltogether


Any useful suggestion that does not say "update the ceritificates" is really welcome

When you get the notice about the certificate, one of the options is to view the certificate. If you do that you will see a check box that says "Always trust this certificate..."

"Always trust this certificate..."

That is exactly what I do, tick the always trust box and confirm.

However mail app will ask again a few days later.

This could be a Keychain problem. Are you using iCloud Keychain? If no, enable in System Preferences > iCloud. After your data has synced to the cloud. Turn off in System Preferences. Delete the Keychains folder in your User's Library. Turn on keychain again in System Preferences and let the data sync back to your Mac. Try once more checking to trust and see if the new Keychain remembers your setting.

Make sure you are running the latest version of Sierra 10.12.4.

Hi, I resolved this by deleting all the accounts and adding them back.

But a thought comes to mind, if an APP comes to this mess it clearly cannot manage security. Something that Apple has increasingly managed with less wisdom and more absurd complexity, which at times literally locks users out. Time for Apple to rethink security rather than add incremental improvements.
