So, overnight with AOD my 16P used only 2% battery. But this morning it has dropped 12% in a couple of hours when I am not even using the phone, but rather doing e-mail and such on my MBA. The e-mail is set up for IMAP so it synchs across all platforms and e-mail access methods.

I googled it and found some "solutions" for older devices and iOS versions but when I look in settings, I see no way to limit Mail app background activity on my 16P with iOS 18. Anyone else? Anyone have a solution? Seems rather ridiculous.

Something you can try is:
Settings>Apps>Mail>Mail accounts (right at the top)
Now at the bottom under the list of all your email accounts find 'Fetch new Data'
The default is 'push' which means it's checking in every few minutes. Almost all the time.
So you can untoggle push and at the bottom of the screen you can 'fetch' and choose hourly, every 30 minutes, 15 minutes or manually which means it'll only get new data when you open the app and refresh it.
If you've got several email accounts you'll see there you can set each one to fetch push or manual.

When you open the Mail app you go to the 'inbox' which will show you all your recent emails.
If you put your finger on the list and pull down you will see a sort of wheel appear at the top and spin for a couple of seconds. That's how you refresh the list and fetch any new emails the easy way.
Somewhere there you can probably solve your problems.

Thanks, I made those settings, and I'll give it a try. LOL... these settings are under "accounts". So intuitive. ;-)
Yes, I know how to manually refresh the inbox. That's really all I need.
