Mail app been buggy for a few days.

For a week or so my mail app has been buggy. Sometimes when I pull the screen down to refresh I just get the spinning bars forever, sometimes it downloads the mail but doesn’t show the text of the email, and then often the red alert icon on the mail app shows a different number of unread emails to what’s actually there.

I’ve tried soft resetting the phone, and yesterday my iPhone 15 pro arrived and I hoped that would solve it but it’s still as buggy as my iPhone 14 pro.

Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it please? I have 3 gmail accounts (1 personal and 2 work), 1 outlook and my iCloud account.

My iOS is 17.0.3

I haven't had that issue but I have had others with the VIP folder. Apple says a fix should be coming in a future update for that issue so maybe yours as well?

Some people have said that removing their mail account and re-adding it has helped with some of the bugs.

Thanks, I’ve tried deleting the accounts and reinstalling them several times but it’s not helped.

I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s my personal gmail account that’s causing the issues. I’m wondering if it’s because there’s over 3000 emails on the account.

I’ve seen similar issues on both my ipad and phone which I have attributed to iCloud issues. But I only have iCloud mail accounts. Are you seeing these issues in your other accounts?

I now think it’s one of my gmail accounts that Mail’s not playing nice with for some reason. I’ve deleted that and mail seems to work fine and has no issue updating the other gmail and outlook accounts.

I’m not sure what the issue is, it’d make sense if it was all the Gmail accounts but not just one.
