Mail app keeps trying to open after sleep?

This started happening on my MBP and now it's happening on my iMac too.

When either computer has been asleep, and I come back to use it Apple Mail is open on the set up screen and I have to force quit.

I use Google Notifier to open any email address links in Gmail so it's not this.

Could an app be trying to send emails?
