Two or three days ago my mail app on my iMac stopped retrieving Earthlink email. I am using Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 and Mail 12.4. I can still retrieve my earthlink email on my iPad, but not on my iMac. I have my iMac set to delete messages upon retrieving and the iPad is set to leave the messages on the server.

Any Clues?

Thanks,

Andy

It depends on what kind of error message(s) you're getting, if any. It may be a simple login password issue, Earthlink may have changed a server configuration or is having a server problem, something in your Mac's settings got corrupted... POP mail configurations (which is how it seems you have things configured) can be problematic. While POP is still supported by some ISPs to maintain legacy usage, IMAP is the current way of the world for, IMHO, excellent reasons.

According to Apple's mail settings lookup page https://support.apple.com/mail-settings-lookup, the current recommended setup for Earthlink is IMAP, not POP. While there are some complications to switching from POP to IMAP (in order to preserve your current email archive you would create a "new" account for Earthlink IMAP and preserve your current POP configuration with the account receive/send disabled), going forward IMAP is far more likely to serve you well, as your mail contents/folders will be identical on all your devices.
