So this is one of those fun things that I can't tell whether the error is the fault of Lion, my MacBook Pro, or iCloud. I tried searching the forums for the same problem and I couldn't find anyone experiencing the exact symptoms as I am.

Most (but not every) times when I wake my MacBook up from sleep, or connect to a new Wifi connection I get the following error message:

The iCloud IMAP server “p01-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user xxxxxx

I enter my password, check the "remember this password in my keychain" box, and everything goes on working fine until I put my MacBook to sleep again. The next time I wake it up (or change wireless networks) BAM! same problem. It seems like Mail is trying to verify my iCloud account when there is no Internet connection, because the window usually pops up before I have a network connection established. Any ideas on how to stop this from happening? It's really obnoxious to keep signing in every time I wake my computer up.

I read everywhere about this problem and there is only one solution. You have to reformat and reinstall. That is the only way I got rid of this problem.

I didn't, cause there's probably something wrong with the system files causing this.

I had this but I fixed it by re-entering my iCloud password in Mail.
Look under Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Account Information>Incoming Mail Server>Password.

It only occurred once (don't know if it was a wake-up or a reboot - might also have been a new Wlan name - but in error - Wlan was unchanged) and the Password space as above was empty.

Same here...

@DirtySocks85, have you been able to fix this issue on your machine?

I have been fighting with the exact same problem on my uncle's Macbook pro for weeks. I tried everything I could think of, deleted the keychain, changed his password and I don't even remember how many times I deleted his iCloud account. The issue always comes back.

Weird thing: My uncle also has the p01-server (everybody else in my family is on p02 and p05, including myself - and for us Mail is working perfectly on our Macs).

Update

I have to agree with Hai1242 - reinstalling Lion was the only way to solve the issue on our Mac. I did not do a clean install though, I just installed Lion on top of the current system via recovery partition. That was two weeks ago, everything has been working flawlessly since then.

Very delayed response here (because I had just learned to "live with it"), but Mountain Lion seems to have fixed the issue.
