Mail being checked automatically

I have always only had one account set up on the mail program. Recently I added my Yahoo e-mail to the mail program, and ever since then mail has been checking for new e-mail's on its own. I have it set on 'Auto-Check -- Manual' for power saving reasons and have never had a problem until I added another e-mail account. Now it seems to check ever hour or so. Anyone else experienced this problem?

im not having this problem but i do have my mail set to be checked every[15 minute.

Does doing that kills your battery? i really don't think so because if it was like that my battery will be dead at all time and it's not./B]

It probably doesn't kill it significantly, I was just curious why it was happening.
