Hey all.

Been on phone with Apple tier 2 support this week about this weird issue, no solution.

MacBook Pro 16, iPhone 11 Pro, iPad Pro.

Latest macOS and iOS and software and hardware. All updates done. One iCloud account logged in. Other email accounts logged in.

The Apple Mail app refuses to send iCloud emails. Will send other email no problem.

If I use macOS Safari and try iCloud webmail interface iCloud works fine.

If I use third party email applications, for example, Spark, iCloud sends fine.

I have signed out and back into iCloud on all devices, same problem. Tried different wireless networks, same problem.

tried different user account on the Mac, same problem.

Anybody seen this?

Same issue here. Started at the very same time as yours.
Tried several devices, networks. Same. Forced iCloud to synch my settings by signing out everywhere.
Deleted all preferences on my Mac. No success. Clean install of the iOS on my iPhone and MacBook Pro 2019. No success.

Mail just doesn't want to send iCloud emails. Other email accounts are fine.
I always get an error message saying that iCloud mail server has a different password stored than the one sent from apple mail. When I go into iCloud online. everything works fine. Everything is synched and I can send emails.

Called Apple's support asking to synch my email password and all I got was to sign out of iCloud on every device and then sign in again. Useless.

Yeah, I have a Tier 2 guy following up with me every week on what the engineers are telling him, right now there is no solution. You should use third party apps for now. They work great. I wonder if Big Sur fixes this issue? I am a bit hesitant to upgrading, maybe wait a month or so. If you upgrade and your email works please advise. Good luck!

I have the same issue but with receiving mails on any mail app (iOS, macOS). if i go on browser (icloud.com) I got the email normal

Update...

as of dec 11, my sending issue suddenly went away. Now I can send from Apple Mail apps on iOS and macOS. Catalina and iOS 14.2.

Apple must have flipped a switch on their end.

also, try another user account on your macs to see if the issue remains.

so maybe try again guys...

I tried to add my account on another device (iphone 11, ipad air) and still I can't receive any emails. but working perfectly on icloud.com (browser). any advise?

17days without a solution. " engineers" are investigating. I tried another iCloud account on my iPhone and mac and works perfectly. so issue clearly is on my iCloud account! I can't believe that Apple engineers can't locate the issue

If I remember correctly, I had this problem twice earlier this year and never really found a solution I can share other than I restarted my cable router & modem and the problem went away after a few minutes. I had internet all along but apple mail just would not send. Rebooting iMac didn't help. Just wondering if your iPhone or iPad can send mail?

my issue is:

I can't receive any emails on any app or device. also 4G, WIFI, doesnt make any difference.

I can only get emails on safari browser (www.icloud.com)

in the meantime I can add other iCloud accounts on my devices (iPhone, macbook, ipad) and I can get email normal. its something related with my icloud account and engineers can't find now whats the issue for 3 weeks!

OK that sounds like something else that happened to me shortly after iCloud Mail was first introduced. Working with Apple support (and they were great and tried all sorts of attempts to fix) they concluded that my Apple ID was somehow corrupted. The only fix we could come up with was to create a new Apple ID. Yes, new Apple ID and new password is a major move, but that's all we could do. I was able to salvage most of the iCloud data and mail but it took some doing. Not exactly sure how I recaptured the sent and received mails but I did get the ones I needed. I may have been able to save them via Microsoft OUTLOOK, as I was using that at the same time as Apple mail. I also had an app called Busy Contacts, that would attach sent and received emails to each contact, so I could grab some emails thru that app. I do not believe the app will do that any longer.

that really sucks!!! senior engineers and they can't find out whats the issue and 3 weeks now...... I can't receive any emails.

I can create another Apple ID, but what about my purchases? my emails? keychain? its a lot of things to transfer

I tried to change password but didnt help. suddenly on Dec 12th my emails stop coming on all my devices. I can only use icloud.com (on a browser). I don't use time machine (as I have icloud 200gbp)

issue continue from Dec 12th! can't receive emails, bookmarks not syncing, notes not updating... but engineers can't find whats wrong... I can't believe that. " IT JUST WORKS 😤"

If I add another iCloud account on my devices I have no issues. If I add my account on another device its not working (same issues). so def its something on my iCloud account!
