Crashes on me. Seems like a memory leak, because everything slows down and then my hard drive becomes full. Absolutely frustrating, especially since Outlook 2011 is inoperable as well.

Test in a new User. Most likely your problems are in your User's folder not with OS X 10.11.
Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or if it's your User's folder that contains the problem. You can't fix something until you know where to start.

Thanks for that suggestion. The crash didn't happen in the new user account. Should I rebuild and/or reindex my mail accounts?

Just found a solution in the Apple dev forums, in case anyone else is having this issue:

Go to system prefs, uncheck the mail checkbox next to each mail account, then check them again. Mail opened fine, no crashing (so far).
