Despite having a Mac for a few years now I have only just started using Mail. My email account is through Hotmail/Outlook and it all synced without any issues yesterday. The only problem I am experiencing is when sending messages the email appears twice in the Sent folder. I have checked with people I have emailed and they inform me they have only received one copy of the emails.

It's a minor annoyance but nevertheless, I'd like to find out why this is happening. Perhaps I need to tweak a setting or check/uncheck a box somewhere.

I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro 2015 running Sierra 10.12.6. Any help greatly appreciated.

Most likely it is saving it twice. Mac Mail is saving a copy. Your email provider is also saving a copy when it sends it.

Go into the settings for the email account in Mail. Under Mailbox Behaviors uncheck Store Sent Messages on the Server. Send some test email to see if you just have one copy.

Thank you for your reply. However, I have read this suggestion on various other websites too, but there is no such option. I am on Sierra 10.12.6. I have tried everything I can think of, but still it duplicates every email I send. Here is a screenshot of what I see:

[doublepost=1546526769][/doublepost]Did you ever get a reply to your question that recognised the latest versions of Mac Mail please? I have had the same problem for quite some time.
Regards
Alan

No I didn't. I searched the internet for a solution but had no luck so decided to give up on Mail for now. I will eventually upgrade to Mojave. I'm not sure if that will make a difference?
