There is a developing thread in this forum, here, that discusses a failure of push email to work correctly with version 2.0 of the firmware. The symptoms described are the same ones I have with two IMAP accounts and two POP accounts. I post this thread so that people won't think this is just a push mail problem. It would be wonderful to know what a permanent solution is to this trouble. For now, turning the phone off and back on, then manually refreshing mail is the only completely reliable method I know, but it is only temporary. Restoring as a new phone and starting fresh has been reported to work, but seems unnecessarily unpleasant.

Edit:
I filed a report of this at Apple's feedback site (http://www.apple.com/feedback). If you are one of the users with the problem, please do the same. I amnot convinced that complaining in a forum like this helps. At least the feedback page gives you an official way to register the trouble.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but I restored my iPhone as a new phone last night with all of the associated pain. Mail fetched for a time, but it has stopped again.

To save others this aggravation, I report here that restoring as a new phone is NOT a permanent solution to Mail's failure to update reliably. At least not for me.

So that we don't get too many threads on the same subject going, I'd suggest if others wish to add something that they do so in the thread first referenced above in iFerd's post.

Good idea, but only if the title of the thread is changed in a way to indicate that this isn't just a problem with push email. Can the mods do that please?
