Mail, finally disable automatic read feature?

Hi All,

I like to check with those installed Tahoe, if the Mail app now finally enables us to disable the automatic read feature. For years this is bugging me, and by the look of it, not just me.

No idea, what made Apple so stuborn to make such a simple feature non existent.
