Mail Folder Still Huge!?

I deleted almost all of my old mail messages in Mail (Inbox, Sent Mesages, Junk... etc) and the Mail folder is almost unchanged (it did get smaller a bit). I did go "Mailbox-->Erase Deleted messages." I don't know what more I need to do to delete the stuff. Help!

P.S. Tiger 10.4.2 and I'm using a pop account.

First, is this after a restart (of either Mail or the machine)?

Then, if you mark all the mailboxes in mail, and enable and sort by Size, is there one (or more) really large messages (that may account for a large part of those MBs)?

If not, go into the ~/Library/Mail/ folder and see if you can find one or more file that are suspiciously large.
