I just switched ISPs from Verizon to Comcast. As I was setting up Mail for my new Comcast e-mail addy, I got deleted the Verizon info from my Accounts.

Now, I can't find any of my old e-mails from that account!! What happened? I checked in /user/library/mail but there's only the new account.

I've never heard of a mail app deleting all the mail related to an account just because I removed the settings for it.

Is there any way to recover all of those e-mails?? Where did they go?

Please help!

Okay.. it does delete all associated mailboxes. That's REALLY lame. Outlook doesn't do that. Entourage doesn't do that (I don't think?). Why the heck does Mail do that??

I haven't backed up in a couple weeks and all those e-mails are gone now.

Hopefully I'll be able to find the .mbox files with Norton Systemworks...

No such luck with Norton.

Anyone else have a problem with how unintuitively this works??

Just because I'm no longer using an account does not mean I no longer need the e-mails from it!!
