Something I noticed with the updated Mail app. When I am in my Inbox and tap on Select, there used to be a Select All option in the top left corner of the screen to, obviously, select all message. I don't see the Select All any longer. Does anyone know if it's hidden somewhere or how to select all message if you want to do that?

Thanks in advance.

If you have the mail categories turned on, go all the way to the category on the right, to the All Mail "category". Then "Select All" will show up in the top-left when you choose "Select". If you are within Primary or any of the other categories, there is no Select All button.

Wow, thank you very much. I had not noticed that with the categories. Sort of like Gmail. But why would the default be show only primary? Anyway, thank you again!

This seems like a huge oversight. Now we have categories like every other mail app, but no select all feature in those categories. Maybe in iOS 19 or 20? We’ll get there!

If I’m trying to manage or delete larger groups of emails, I will use either the Gmail or Yahoo Mail app. It’s so much easier than in the Apple Mail app. For example, in Gmail I can go into Promotions, select all, then delete, it’s done. For some reason, the Apple Mail app doesn’t even give me an option to delete selected Gmail messages unless I select messages from another mailbox. The only option I have is archive them and I don’t want to do that ever.

It's sort of baffling how it was released in this state.

I really liked categories back when I used Gmail as my primary mail account, and especially back when they had the In Box app. I was looking forward to this implementation. But... it simply doesn't work well for me. Most of my problem is that I get emails from a forum I participate in and those emails are not categorized the same way, and the forum sends the emails as if the author mailed them, so that's how categories is trying to group them - this sender is Updates, this sender is Promotions. But I want anything sent from this particular server to go into Updates, and it doesn't work that way. Maybe (hopefully) it doesn't work that way yet.

I tried that trick, but I still do not see "select all" I'm not sure what I am doing wrong?
