I’ve got a 6s Plus. I’ve let my mail management get out hand. I have about 11,000 unread messages. There are many categories I want to delete and some I want to keep. I’d like select a sender, as in search XYZ, chose edit and delete all so I can get rid of all mail sent by XYZ, but I can’t figure out how to do that.

I suppose it’d be great to set up mailboxes where it’d be easier to delete many and save others. Tips?

Best to take care of the unread email issue using email client software on a computer or your email host's web interface.

Well yeah. I have my email on my computer and Comcast. But they also download to my iPhone independently. Deleting messages on my phone doesn’t effect the messages on the computer or Comcast. I’m interested in selecting searches and deleting all. It seems like it’d be an easy thing to do, but I don’t see a way.

If you're saying your email clients are all set up as POP3 accounts and each one downloads each email independent of each other then the question becomes, "How many emails on the phone that are ONLY on the phone do you need to keep?"

I don’t have any that are only on the phone. But there are some I want to keep in my phone for reference.
