Mail marking emails as read

G'day,

I use Apple's Mail app for my mail on my 2012 Mac Mini running Mojave. It is set up with both my email account, and my wife's.

We both also have iPhone 11's with Mail set up on them.

For the past month or so, my wife's emails on the Mac Mini have been marking themselves as read without them actually having been read on either the Mini or iPhone.

Anyone know what's causing this??

It's not happening to my email. Just hers.

A first step: Check for an offending rule both in the Mail app and at the webmail portal of your wife's email provider.
