I'm just testing markup in mail and it seems really really good.

Admittedly I haven't played around with it in detail but a few photos I've tested and just roughly sketched an arrow, speech bubble etc just works beautifully and the fact it all works directly within mail is very cool.

Can't quite figure out how to work the signature option though, I've had no luck with that feature.

I'm also really liking the new look of Yosemite, I want iOS to look more like this.

Anyone else's thoughts on Mail markup?

How were you able to bring it up? is it only for attachments? I've been trying to access it but can't get it working.

Yep it's only for attachments. Just create any old email and add an attachment then hover your mouse over the attachment and you'll see a little arrow on the attachment, click that and you're good to go.

That explains it! Ok, thanks, gonna check it out.

so is it only for mail.app?

is it not possible to ,say, do a screenshot with markup?

(like- shift-cmmd-5 would be a screenshot which shows itself afterwards with the markup tools available.. basically the same as taking a screenshot then opening it in preview and using the editing tools there except it all happens more fluidly)

Is a Markupped attachment editable or even de-Markuppable if received by another 10.10 user, ie can be be used to collaboratively exchange 'stuff'?

Doesn't look like it at the moment, it's purely for mail attachments. Having said that I would find it a hard to believe that Apple won't add that at some point...be silly not to.

Not as far as I can tell, again I would imagine they'll add this at some stage, would be good to collaborate.

Markup not working

The arrow does not appear on my iMac in the Mail app. I tried pdf and pictures. Using pdf and pictures, I tried reply, forward, new email and just about anything else I can think of. Looked at the information from many different webpages, including apple.com, on how it works, but I don't get the "arrow" (button). Anyone know if you must have a certain model of Mac? I have a mid 2011 27" iMac.

It's in Preview as well.

Markup Preview

They have had some markup features in preview for years now. The new Markup for Preview adds new features. The strange thing is that the Preview Markup, the updated one for Yosemite, works for me in Preview. I just cannot get MarkUp to work in the Mail app. That top right arrow that makes the menu appear does not show and I can hover over the pic all day long with no results. :(

I have Yosemite with the 2014 rMBP. Can't get Markup to work at all. Nothing I do will make it work.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thnx.
