I wonder if there are some options in the mail app to switch back to some more minimalistic view.
I know how it looks on the iphone and while it might be useful for some people I see myself missing the oversight. Now I have one line per mail and can screen dozens of incoming mails at once without having to search for one.
If i can only see the heading of 8-10 that sucks. I don't care about it in the iphone because I only use it in emergencies which means almost never and usually only to look for one specific mail which can be found via search, but on the desktop I don't like it.

Are there any options to change this or is it better to sit back and stay away from Lion for as long as possible.
There isn't really any reason I need it, I am only hoping it might repair my really slow drive select screen at boot up. That is a little messes up and takes for ever to load for some reason. I don't really know how to fix it. Boot without option key is really fast.

Go into preferences (cmd and ,) select the 'view' tab. Change the way it looks back to classic or play around with it so you can get the mail to be viewed as conversations with the fold out option like at the Apple conference.

Did this help?

Can you get Mail to show similar to now without using the classic look

Configure it so it always shows, Folders, Contents of highlighted folder, message preview for highlighted message (as now), I prefer the 3 window look, makes it easy to move things and view other folders

I didn't install Lion yet. I just wanted to know before getting it.
Thanks if there is a classic view still optional I am happy.

That is my setup right now with messages preview below and folder content above. All I want is that it stays like it. If someone comes up with a better way of displaying stuff I would try it but what Apple showed doesn't look very efficient for my kind of use. I have filters that I sometimes not screen for a few days but if I do it works faster if it is only on line per message and not this whole block as it is on the iphone.
