Mail not up to date with Mac

I am signed into my Mac and iPhone with iCloud. The other day I deleted over 500 emails from the mail app on my Mac because it is easy to just hold down the shift key and quickly delete hundreds of emails. Well the deletion has not been reflected on my iPhone. Still showing all the messages. Does anyone here no what my problem is and how to remedy it?
