Has anyone come across an issue where the mail app won't update anymore? I've got Yahoo & Google email accounts and they both worked fine for the past months. But yesterday they stopped updating. When I hit the refresh icon it says connecting but never gets anything. The wierd part is that all other apps using Edge work fine. And Mail works fine over wi-fi, just not Edge.

The only change that I can think of that I did was install iSolitaire. I've removed it and restarted the phone but still no luck. Anyone seen or come across this?

Mail not working over Edge - same here

I have the same issue - I use my own mail server which has been working fine with my iPhone until yesterday. All of a sudden, it stops working over edge - and if I switch to WiFi in my office, it works fine (same account). I can access the mail server via https from my iPhone, so I know at least that traffic is going through. I also took a look at the Apple support forums and it seems that a lot of people are having the exact problem.

I wonder what's going on? Maybe a problem with ATT Edge?

Mine stopped working also - can't send or receive email over edge (wifi works fine).

I wonder if it had anything to do with the update? I don't remember if it ever worked after the update (don't use it often enough).

Same thing here, called ATT and IPhone Customer Service

They tried every trick in the book including replacing my SIM cards and reactivating my phone. Nothing worked. I think something got reconfigured on the lovely ATT network that is blocking the ports for IMAP and POP access, but nobody is deep enough technically in ATT nor Apple to be able to diagnose the network. So we have to wait for enough people to call in to complain about it before it gets escalated to Tier 3 or some high level outage and someone really looks into it.

So, folks, PLEASE call this into your ATT / iPhone support line and tell 'em it's not working for you on Edge so someone gets their act in gear and fixes this on the ATT network!

Thanks.

I'm thinking the same thing that it's on AT&T's side. My wife's phone worked fine yesterday from her work but at the house she now has the same problem as I do. So I'm ruling out that it's anything that I've installed on the phone since there's nothing on hers.

Same problem!

This showed up for me about the 21st or 22nd of November. I just thought it was fluke and ignored it but after the Thanksgiving Holiday I still noticed that it seemed broke. I can not send nor recieve mail from My Yahoo or my .mac mail on my iPhone. I deleted both accounts on the phone and tried to re-add them.. NOthing! Now they will not even establish a connection. So I also assume this is a change on AT&t's edge network. Mine also works fine over WiFi.. So for now I say.. hmmmmmmm.

Locations?

No problem with email over EDGE in San Francisco. Perhaps we should see if there are localized issues? People should identify their locations, also which email services they are trying to reach and over what ports?

Edge Issues in Portland OR

My Edge stopped working on Monday morning, been down since then. ATT says it's an Apple problem, and Apple says it's an ATT problem. It'll work if you enter the IP address but won't with the URL.

This is very upsetting Apple!

can receive mail over edge but cant send

I can receive mail over the edge network but can not send. I live in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This is a huge let down. Anyone have any ideas? In using a bellsouth account and 3 other gmail accounts. All of them work fine over wifi. I'm posting this using my iPhone. What is the deal?

same on o2 in the uk for me. I get no emails all day, but as soon as I get home on the wifi I get them all. But only if I manually check. Auto check doesn't seem to work.

I live in Mexico and use my iPhone over the Telcel network and have the same problem. Yahoo mail works perfectly over WiFi but not when using Edge. Incoming mail works well but outgoin mail is very inconsistent, sometimes it works, sometimes it gets hung up eternally and sometimes I get a message saying

"The connection to the outgoing server "(null)" failed.

Given that the problem using yahoo mail over edge occurs with different carriers (ATT, O2, Telcel) in different countries I'm inclined to believe it's an Apple problem or a Yahoo problem, not a carrier problem. If someone comes up with a solution please let me know. This problem makes me want to go back to my Blackberry...

Its not just Yahoo

I have gmail, and other pop3 accounts and I have the same prob...all of them work great on wireless, but on EDGE it generally receives my email but almost never will it send email on the wireless...
I'm new to the iphone and getting VERY frustrated with this particular issue. I like the phone other than that
