I have Googled around and haven't found a working solution. Anyone ever get this error?

I have a 2011 iMac 21.5".
Mountain Lion 10.8.3

Mail and Notes work fine on my iPhone 5.

Mail was working fine on my Mac as of this morning. But Notes was not syncing on my Mac. I then went into Preferences of the Notes app and saw that it was set up with 2 iCloud accounts... but both the SAME iCloud account. But one was using my Gmail address to login (my Gmail address is my primary login / Apple ID). The second was using my free @me.com email as the login (secondary login name for my Apple ID account).

So I deleted both iCloud accounts from the Notes Preferences, and restarted my Mac. Then I went to System Preferences and into iCloud and Notes was (expectedly) unchecked. So I checked it and I got the above error about it not being enabled at this time.

So then I decided to try completely signing out of iCloud on my Mac, then I rebooted, and when I was back in, I went back into iCloud in Settings and re-logged in. This time, everything is turned on except iCloud Mail and Notes. I am getting the above errors.

Everything works fine on my iPhone 5 and I can access everything on iCloud.com website.

Any ideas?

The only thing I could do was restore a Time Machine backup from MONTHS AGO and an OSX version back (October and 10.8.2) and now everything is behaving normally again.

Also re-upgraded to 10.8.3 and all is still good. Good thing I didn't lose much going back that far. My most important files are stored on a Synology Diskstation.
