Anyone else missing all notifications from mail after installing Big Sur? I don't get any sounds or banners - even though both are on.

I'm not getting ANY notifications yet. It does that on a new iPhone but have never had it happen on MacOS. Not sure where to look. Checked notifications in settings and all the same one are checked ON but nothing happening.

Seems every release of macOS - they break Mail notifications.

Same thing here. The notifications are there when I reveal Notification Center. However, they don't pop up at all.

Mine are slowly coming around. It does this on a new iPhone but I've never had it happen on a MacOS. This morning I got up and had many more notifications that came in over night.

Yes, oddly, I'm starting to get notifications and sounds again. So weird!

EDIT: sounds/notifications seem completely random. Sometimes they come in fine, other times I look down and notice the red badge after never hearing/seeing a notification.

Although I do notice I seem to be missing the "sent mail" sound. Is this normal in Big Sur?

just remember to get notifications, you have to be connected to the network. mine is constantly dropping out and until you invoke browser you might not realise. but, when I am connected, I do. and I have sent sound, the old one (assuming there is a new one).

well there's a thing... just tested it and.. no. I've seen mail and texts in notifications, but this one didn't end up there. so it seems to somewhat temperamental. seems to be the way of Apple these days, it just works (if you're lucky)...

So I am finding that on most restarts - my clock/time is dim. That indicates that DND is active. Sure enough it's turned on even though I didn't set it. What's interesting is that manually turning it off doesn't help. But if I log out and log back in (not a restart), DND is not turned on. When this happens, I get Mail notifications.

It seems that the DND that gets auto turned on on a restart really messes things up. I miss all kinds of notifications from apps - and turning it off doesn't help without the logout/login.

This problem has been around for at least two years:

Fingers crossed it gets resolved in the next update! 🤞🏻

Did you find a fix at all?

Im on MBP M1, Big Sur 11.2.1 and I'm frustrated. Apple support made me reinstall MacOS the other day this seemed to kick notifications back into gear but they have gone again...

Also, every time I open the Mac after a sleep, the DND moon is visible for ~5 seconds and then disappears. Seems very strange. - that said I do not have any other notification issues, it is only with my Mail app and this has iCloud, outlook and an exchange account that all suffer the same!

Thanks

All of my notification issues were due to Big Sur activating DND automatically on reboot. No idea why, and still haven't fixed it completely. I can reboot 10 times and randomly DND will either be active or disabled when logged in. No rhyme or reason why or when it gets activated. I have no schedule setup at all....never have.

The other issue I see is, if when you login DND is active, you can disable it, but that still doesn't allow notifications. I have to kill notification center with this in terminal:

killall NotificationCenter

I have setup a shortcut in Alfred to run this if I login and see DND active.

Basically on any reboot:

- If I see DND is active, I have to turn it off and kill notification center
- If I see DND is disabled, everything is fine

Is there a known way to have DND never come on, since day 1 of owning the M1 Mac I have noticed this DND moon in the menu bar after waking only?

Its infuriating as I do not want it yet I'm not seemingly given a choice...

Thanks

I haven't found a way to disable it completely. I even tried setting a schedule of like 2:00am - 2:01am. Even that didn't work.

I think DND is a buggy mess.

Totally agree, I have filed a feedback report...

EDIT: Just to add, the odd thing is that some of the notifications are back but not always. So this is sort of an intermittent issue, one moment they will work fully but then totally stop and fail to work.

No mail sounds for me... most annoying!
Make sure DND isn't active (the time/date in the upper right would be dim if it is). If it is active, you need to turn DND off. Then you need to go into terminal and run:

killall NotificationCenter

This fixed it for me.

My mail has just stopped working on anything, mac or iPhone. Just get messages that Mail can not load at this time, try again later.

Anyone else getting this? I've restated all devices and tried to sign into mail on iCloud and that doesn't work either.

This has been driving me mad...........but I finally fixed it. You go to System Preferences, Notifications, Do not disturb, and uncheck all the boxes. Voila!
