Mail reinstall

I think I need to reinstall Mail so to speak. How can I do this?

What is wrong is that when I upgraded to 10.4.3, JunkMatcher, the plugin for Mail stopped working. That is, it stopped filtering all of the junk mail and would just leave it all sitting in my inbox. I uninstalled it, but Mail still wouldn't filter any of the junk mail. When the latest version of Junkmatcher came out, I installed it, but Mail still refuses to filter anything. It labels spam as junk mail, but it won't move it to the junk mail folder. And yes, I do have the option for it to do that checked.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried moving to Thunderbird for awhile, but it is too unstable to use, so I want to use Mail again, but I just get too much Spam a day to use it unless I can get this working again.

Is your Mail's junk filter maybe in training mode (since I get it hasn't been in use while the plug-in did all the work)?

If so, it's the expected behaviour. Mail will not throw away any messages before the Mail filter is fully trained (about 1000 mail messages required, as far as I can remember).

It's not set in training mode. Let me specify that it worked perfect before I upgraded to 10.4.3.

It seems like the best way to go at this point may just be to completely reset Mail, delete all my settings and start over, but I have no idea how to do that easily.

Okay, I understand that and it is strange, but have you tried setting it to Training mode for a while, and then back? It might get it working correctly again without having to go through so much?

If you want to reset Mail... what I think you should do is MOVE the entire ~/library/mail folder to another location (this is where all your mail is), and make sure there is no such folder in your Library. Then spotlight the mail plist files and delete those. Then when you start it, it should reconstruct all this, and you can re-import your mail from the saved copy. Does that make sense?

Try deleting your preferences file for Mail first. Also, try removing JunkMatcher from your user/Library/Mail folder, then get the built-in junk mail filter working right before reinstalling it.
