My 60 day trial has just expired! and I really like mail... Is there a way of keeping mail without paying for .Mac?

If its not possible to, I have an gmail account would/is it possible to put an link/icon of gmail onto my dock...

Do you mean the Apple Mail application? You don't need .mac at all for that. In fact, you can read your GMail through it. This page at Google tells you how.

The thing you cannot keep is your .mac e-mail addresss. But you can actually keep all your old mail from that account in Mail while using G-Mail. It (Mail) can handle many accounts -- mine is set up for four or five right now, and it can combine mail from all of them.

Just set up your gmail account in Mail and disable the .Mac account.

Goto Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts

To add gmail: Press the + button on the bottom of the window. Choose POP account. Enter your details (see attachment 1) under Account Information. Under Outgoing Mail Server drop down menu, choose Add Server and fill inn the details there, too (see Attacment 2). (Directions should also be available on gmail.google.com.)

To disable .Mac: Choose the account, goto the Advanced tab and uncheck the enable account.

The POP server “pop.yahoo.co.uk” is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the “Incoming Mail Server” field. If it still doesn’t respond, the server might be temporarily unavailable.

I have but still get this message!!!!?
