Since I got my new MacBook, I restored from Time Machine backup from my Mac mini (where everything worked fine). With no error messages and about a 40 minute wait, I was able to successfully restore. However, I noticed no apps... nothing had come across. I proceeded to set things up anyway, with iCloud setting up most of my stuff.

Mail hasn't worked right since. I've my iCloud mail account, all organised into folders neatly and a work Exchange account. All configured correctly. With mail downloaded for the most part.

There's a never ending Downloading 1 of 50 messages status message on the bottom left, and frequently the 'Mail accounts offline' warning message for all accounts... Taking all accounts online seems to send it into a lag situation and the Connection Doctor returns no information just more endless loading.

Now, an email I saw yesterday has disappeared for good. I've checked iCloud.com and Exchange Online and still nowhere to be found when searching by sender.

How can I get mail to work properly? I've tried manually removing and adding the accounts... I've signed out of iCloud once and back in (still waiting for damn photos to reupload on iCloud Photos)... that didn't solve it.

Any other steps I can take?

Did you rebuild your Mail.app?

Yes I've tried this, it immediately drops the 55 downloading messages to 5, but after this it returns to the approximately 50 messages downloading / processing. So no progress sadly :(
