Dear all,

I am new to this interesting forum. And I have an issue with the apple mail.

I have a 2011 Imac on which i also have an account for my girlfriend. Because we recently bought a new macbook pro for her, I wanted to migrate her account to the new macbook using the migration assistent.

However it turned out that including photos this was more than 256GB :-(. IA closer look in the library file told me that the mbox mail file was listed as 137GB. Now off course you gather some mails in a couple of years, but my account i.e. shows less than 20GB. To me it seems that this file could be corrupted.

Could thet be possible? How can I check it? And how can I fix it? I would not like to transfer all this (corrupt) data to a new installed macbook.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If she's had the email account for awhile, it absolute could be a quarter of a terabyte of info. If she's got some videos and lots of pictures, the GBs will quickly add up.

It sounds like your GF never spent much time "sorting out" her mailbox and any attachments therein.

Some serious "cleaning out" -may- be in order.

It would probably be better to do this on the old iMac -BEFORE- you migrate her account anywhere else...
