Hi all, I have Safari (default browser) and Chrome on my Mac, I use Gmail in a browser for email. But mailto: links in web pages open Chrome not Safari, which is what I would prefer. I can't find a setting anywhere, does anyone know how to change this behavior? I did confirm System Prefs/General has Safari as default browser, and the links are just straight links like this when I check using Inspector, nothing special that I see:

<a href="mailto:xxxx@yyy.edu">xxx@yyy.edu</a>

Thanks!

I read somewhere (sorry it was a while ago) that a Safari extension is needed to make those links open in Safari. I don't have more info though.

Thanks @WildSky, that gave me enough to do some more research - not sure the extensions are still viable given advancements in security etc., they may be - but just knowing Safari doesn't really support it is good enough for me for now!

If you go into Mail.app >Preferences >General what does it say for the default email reader? Chrome? If so, manually change it to Safari and see what happens.
I don't have the Mail app set up, I just ran it and it wanted to import all my messages to setup and use the Mail app, whatever that means? I didn't want to try that without knowing what it would do. I did check while that dialog box was up, and Preferences was grayed out.
