Hello, when the Yosemite beta came out, I downloaded it onto my late 2013 macbook pro. I have had no problems with it till now. After updating to the last update, when I try and do anything slightly heavy on my mac, it closes all my apps and logs me out. This means I can't download anything, I can't download the new yosemite update from the mac app store.. My mac has become useless! I need some help urgently as this computer is the only thing I have for school and it cost so much! Thank you!!

I can't help at this time (sorry) but you might gain more attention if you edit the subject line of your opening post – use the advanced editor – to let more people see, from that line alone, the nature of the problem.

Also, if you can do so without breaking confidentiality, provide as many details as possible about the problem. Mac model identifier, firmware (Boot ROM) version, whether the installation of Public Beta 4 was clean (whether the volume was erased before a full installation), and so on.

I would suggest you:

  1. Report the bug using the feedback assistant.
  2. Flatten the Mac.
  3. Restore from a Time Machine backup.

Unfortunately, this is the huge risk with Beta software.

Did you try booting in recovery mode and download again beta from AppStore and reinstall?

I can't send anything on the feedback sender because as I said before it just crashes.

Major noob here, how do you get the details that you have mentioned and how do I boot it in recovery mode?

Thanks :)

How do I flatten the mac? I didn't make a time machine backup and I know you are going to call me stupid but I don't have enough money for an ssd/hard drive to backup my data! I know I shouldn't have put this on my main machine but I didn't think at the time.

Just restart your machine and press and hold Cmd + R immediately when it starts to boot. You'll have some options there, but I recommend doing a backup of your most important files now, because you might need to delete everything in the worst case scenario.
