Major Internal Hard Drive Problem

Well let me put it like this: I was going to use Parallels Desktop to install a copy of Windows XP Pro onto my MacBook. Unfortunately my PIN for Parallels didn't work so I went to option B, use Boot Camp. So it all looked good, I got everything ready and when I was about to run the disk, an ugly error message popped up and told me it would not work... And I had just partitioned 5.2 GB of my drive for a version of WinXP Pro that wouldn't work. Yay me! So I'm stuck with -5 gigs. I want it back!!! I tried using Disk Utility and this is what happened:

Ok, I'm going to erase it yay!

Zero Out, yay!

Oh noes~

I tried mounting it and no luck...

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated

Go back to Bootcamp Assistant. There is an option to restore the partition to OS X.

Looks like you're trying to secure erase a FAT file system or the partition created by Bootcamp. That is incorrect. Use Bootcamp Assistant to restore your HD.

by the way, secure erase is to rid the partition of any deleted files preventing data recovery or making it difficult for data recovery. Its not a partitioning utility.

Well seeing that Boot Camp is expired, (and I'm not getting Leopard for 2 more days), could I backup all the stuff I wanna keep onto my external HD, install Leopard (which wipes everything, or maybe just the Mac OS X partition), then go to Boot Camp Assistant and change it? Or does the Leopard installation wipe your whole HD?

wait the 2 days, then when you get leopard, do an upgrade install. It will keep everything installed and wont tamper with your files.

Then run Bootcamp Assistant.
