With the public release of Catalina just around the corner, I'm wondering what MAJOR problems beta users are still having? For me, the only MAJOR problem I'm experiencing is a problem I experienced before Catalina. In the other words, Catalina isn't helping with my problem. When using FaceTime app on my MacBook to place a phone call via my iPhone, half the time it does not work.

When I first installed Catalina, it worked perfectly. Then after updating it stopped.

What are the other major problems?

Then it sounds like Catalina is ready for prime time. I've been running beta on all my Apple devices for most of 2019. I'm going to get off the beta bus for a while. I want to live with no issues for a few months.

I'm on Public Beta 9 now and my 2012 Mac mini STILL refuses to sleep. There were no problems under Mojave but sleep has never worked in Catalina, even after a clean install. The only other remaining issue I can find is that I can only connect to Windows 10 computers using IP, names don't work. Again, a problem that's been there since the start. For me, these are pretty major issues to still be present so far down the line. I won't be updating my other Macs for a few weeks at least.

I didn't see any signal of a public beta 10 yet, shouldn't that one be release first, before Apple releases a GM and 10.15 to everyone ?

I would say they won't release 10.15 until Mac Pro and/or iMac Pro 2019 is available, e.g. day before the pre-orders are out.

This article suggests that the release is possibly tomorrow. https://9to5mac.com/2019/09/26/macos-catalina-release-date/
I’ don’t think so. If you take a closer look, number 4 is after the period. So, the number is related with the fourth footnote at the end of the page which says: 4) Apple Arcade and Apple TV+ require a subscription. Apple Arcade is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV and will be available on Mac this fall. All these years, Apple has never released none os at the end of the week. It does it always between Monday and Wednesday. We shall see.

Major issues? None.

Minor issues? I lost a couple of 32-bit apps; one of my applescripts isn't working (not a gatekeeping/security issue); WiFi doesn't always reconnect after sleep/wake.

Would I be ok if the current beta was the actual release? Yeah.

Catalina PB10 fixed one minor weird issue I have with Mojave. In Mojave, if I want the screensaver to use my photolibrary as the screen saver images, I always have to start photos, select an image to view, then close photos. I have to take this action every time I shutdown my puter for any reason. Once I take that action screensaver works the right way, until I shutdown my computer then I have to do it again. Every. Single. Time.
In Catalina PB10,  fixed that.

My MBP must notified me that Beta 11 is now available. I was expecting the big release today.

Im having issues when opening the lid of my MBP 2019 to wake it up from sleep. The keyboard and touchbar light up but the screen is grey.

I have some issues. iCloud keeps asking for password, handoff doesn't work and i need to reboot to make it work. Many random glitches all over the place. For example I open music app, sign in and it offers me to join Apple music when im already a user for a long time.

The root level of my iCloud Drive contains directories (Pages & Numbers) that contain files I need. On my 2019 rMBP running macOS Catalina DP11/PB10, I cannot see them nor can Pages & Numbers find the directories. I can access these directories and the files within using macOS Mojave on my 2014 rMBP or using iOS 13.2 beta 1 on my iPhone X or iPadOS 13.2 beta 1 on my 2017 iPad pro. The problem turned up after DP7. I reported this bug. Apple acknowledged that "More than 10" have reported it and a fix is coming.

When I initially installed Catalina, it gave a warning about any non-system files being removed from them root. I think they are trying to get you to not store stuff there... I hope you didn’t ignore that message, and lost those files.

Mail and preview searches are still regularly messed up for me.

Don't have a mojave partition anywhere, but mail search still ends up just returning every single item as a match after a short while.

And in preview, only first search works properly giving context in the search index. After that just get the pages with no context, and an error noise.

I haven't lost anything. Just can't see some directories that are at the root iCloud Drive. I think I will move them into the Documents directory with Mojave.
