Hey its me again
Heres whats happened so far:
I finished installing windows xp with bootcamp after much trial and error and lots of help from you guys on this forum
I had no problem installing all the drivers for everything form the mac os installation disc and decided to start playing some games
Now i opened up IE and there was no internet connection, i went into the network connections and tried to join the internet from my wireless router, but it kept getting stuck at "acquiring network address" and after a few mins it just stopped and went back to nothing, so i got up and took my macbook to the router and tried plugging an ethernet cord from the macbook to the router, this worked fine but the problem was that i didnt have any cables long enough to run from the router to my room, so i went and got a 10m cable and the grand parents said they didnt want it on the floor cause they were worried they would fall over and break their necks, so fair enough, i drilled a hole in the floor where the router was and in the cupboard in my bedroom.
after about 2 hours of getting the cable form the router towards my bedroom i found out the cable was long enough, so i drove to town again and got a 20m one just to be safe, another few hours later i was covered in scratches, cob webs etc but i had finally got the cable through.
I stuck it up into my cupboard, crawled out from under the house and ran to my room, set my macbook back up, plugged in my charger, ethernet cord, mouse, external harddrive, dual monitor and headphones and i restarted the computer and booted into xp and what do you know the internet doesnt work, just my luck, so i unplugged everything walked back to my router and used the cable i tried earlier to test the connection and it wasnt working either, i tried restarting the router and computer a few times each and was getting the same results.
tl;dr
Installed xp with bootcamp
couldnt connect to internet via wireless router
tried with ethernet cable and had no problems
got a long cable to run to my room, it wasnt long enough
got a longer one, plugged it in and it didnt work
plugged the one i tried originally and it didnt work
I now have no way to connect to the internet when I am on xp, but when im on mac os it works without any problems
Any help would as always be appreciated
P.s ive been awake nearing on 48 hours so im starting to go a bit insane, so im sorry about the huuuuge post, but yeah windows + network = nightmares 99% of the time, help plz ><
