Hello forum,

I am wondering why it's not possible to make a new file from within the current Finder folder...

Question:
Is that really not possible or do I miss something?

Thank's a lot for any help!
Bill

PS
As ab alternative I am using `touch abcd.txt`

I assume Apple just finds it pointless. If you want to make a file you'd typically want it to mean something so in Apple's mind it would make sense to make the file with a program that can generate content for it and that meaning.
But if you want to make an empty file you can use the "touch" command. In a Terminal just write

touch <name of file>

in the relevant directory

Well, your alternative was one of the things I was going to suggest and is probably your best bet. And of course you can do that for any file type.

But check out this link and scroll down to the third answer. Not sure if it still works, but might be worth a try!
