It is the SAMSUNG HS12UHE with a LIF (low insertion force) connector.

As far as getting disks (ssd/hdd) with the sata lif connector, it is near impossible...

The only option at this point is to either somehow get the SSD from a broken mba rev. b off ebay, or hacking up a connector for micro sata.

I have examined the hdd in my mba and think I can separate the strands of the ribbon. This would allow to solder the leads onto a micro-sata connector on, say, an intel x18-m SSD.
Regarding dimensions, drives with the micro-sata connector will need some modding to fit, either shifting the drive cage or removing part of the connector.

Good luck :)

:(

thats a shame.... ive seen a few drives with lif connector on it.. but there 5.4mm drives. Do you know if this would fit a MBA or is this too tall?

thanks!

Yes, none of those are sata lif, micro-sata is not the right connector. Better luck to you ;)

To date, as far as I am aware, the only option for the drive for a rev B MBA is from Apple. That includes HDD and SSD. Only Apple is using the LIF in SATA-II form. The original MBA used a PATA ZIF or LIF cable and those are available. A lot of people have tried and gotten nowhere when it comes to the rev B. Has been well documented via many threads here.
