You are supposed to be able to make an iPhone call from a mac with yosemite if your iPhone has iOS 8 which mine does. How do you do that? How can you answer a call too?

I got a call on my phone and it rang on my mac which was right nearby. Is there a way to turn that off or make it so that it stops ringing on the mac if you answer it on the phone?

And I still don't know how to make a call from the mac?

Right click a screen phone number and there should be something to call.

There is a phone icon next to numbers in CONTACTS contact which initiates a call but so far none have gone through. They all fail.

It should stop doing that when you answer on your phone, but it's a mess right now and Apple is still working the kinks out of it.

thanks. is there a way to turn that off for now?

Turn off FaceTime notifications if you want the ability to send/receive these calls but not the sounds, etc. Or in FaceTime preferences, uncheck "iPhone Cellular Calls" to turn the feature off completely.
