Is this the cable I need?

Or should I be looking for HDmi2?

By the way, is there any way I can get sound out of my MBP through the speakers in my TV?

1/8 to RCA cable? where do I connect?

i dunno about the TV cable but for mac sound to some out of tv you will need a 3.5mm to a phone-o. basically a headphone jack that goes to a red and white plugs. on the back of your tv they are ther 'audio in' plugs. hope it helps

edit: oh and plug the head phone jack ( the 3.5mm bit ) to the macbook pros audio out

That cable should work, it seems that the reviews state that people say it works well.

thanks,

now for sound...

I go out of the headphone jack into the DVI in of my TV? or the AV in? Or the Component In?

1/8 (headpone) to RCA

if you are using the DVI input from your MBP, then you would want to use the audio input (red and white connectors) labeled "DVI in"...

First of all, I'd like to thank the original poster for being very clear and concise in the thread title and post. It's much appreciated.

You should be able to find a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable most anywhere, and in varying lengths. I've had to use several for my XM, HD tuner that hooks to my computer monitor/HDTV, and also in the livingroom. That should be an easy setup.

Let us know how the picture looks!
