Well..the title says it all!

I want a great setup for school next year...I was thinking about an Eye TV (do NOT need HDTV signal) ...but would like some help. What will give me the best quality at a reasonable price??? Let's factor in an external hard drive just for giggles.

Thanks!

If you want the best setup, just get a TiVo. Or any of the other TiVo-like devices (Replay TV or whatever). I've tried using computer add-ons and they are good, but they cannot compare to my TiVo.

it depends on what type of monitor you want (23" or 30" ACD) and what else you may be doing with the machine...you could get a mac mini (intel), eyetv250, and a 23" ACD. The mac mini would be a good idea, since you can upgrade both the cpu and chipset (in theory)...but if you do hard core stuff (like HDTV editing, or just using Aperture), then you should wait for another toy to come out. But I love my eyetv200!
