Hello,

My aunt bought me Planet Earth, but I don't own a blu ray.

I'm not very technologically savvy (neither was my aunt!), and my HP Omni100 PC won't register the existence of the disks. Neither will Make MKV.

I know that there was a post about this, but I couldn't find the answer within all the replies.

I have winzip, and tried to follow the instructions of Life Hacker ,

but "The Easy Method" won't register my discs, and I don't know how to unzip the Blu Ray Disc support ".pyo" files into my video something-or-other for the "Complicated Method."

What I really need is a simple "Make this damn thing work for dummies" style answer. I'd like to rip them so I can have them on file.

Thanks.

no blu ray.

Uhm, no? I've no blu ray drive. I don't think Like Hacker mentioned it at all. His how to is for adapting your normal drive to manipulate blu ray, I thought.

Oh, I don't know about hacking a normal optical disk drive (ODD) to read Blu Rays, as CD and DVD ODDs use a different laser than a Blu Ray drive does.
Can't you get an external Blu Ray drive for computers? They cost around 50 USD and can be connected to a computer via USB.

Did you actually read the article? Here's the second sentence: "My laptop came with a Blu-ray drive"

You need a Blu-Ray drive to access Blu-Ray discs.

This makes about as much sense as trying to put a DVD in a floppy disc drive...please do some sort of research before you ask how to rip a BluRay without a BluRay drive.

Ummmm anyone know how I can turn on my iMac? Catch is I do not have electricity. Thanks for any help.
