iPod Make Music Play Through One Side Only On iPod?

I was kind of hoping that the actual iPod could do it, but if it can't that sucks.
The iPod is stereo only - you can get a very tiny stereo 3.5mm to mono 3.5mm adapter from most electronics stores.

You know in Quicktime you can make audio just go out through one headphone, I'd like to do that only with the iPod and I don't want some adaptor. You can change the Balance that was the word I needed.

I think they understand you perfectly. What you're not understanding is that they're saying there's no way to do that through the iPod. Check the settings menu, there's no option for it. I just glanced at the iTunes Equalizer and it looks like there's no way to change the balance there either.
If you do get an adapter, it would put both left and right channels into both left and right headphones, so you could basically hear both channels in just one ear. It's not ideal, but it looks like it's the best one can do with an iPod.
Complain to Apple.

I was thinking about making a suggestion if they didn't do this, which they don't, so how would I go about doing this?
I know when you're importing you can change the preferences in iTunes to import as mono. That will combine the two stereo tracks as one mono track and make the files smaller to boot.
The only way of changing previously ripped/purchased content would be to change the preferences to mono, select the track(s) and ctrl-click selecting Convert. That should convert the tracks that were ripped, but never tried it with purchased content.

Converting to mono is the best bet. It will play through both earpieces still, but if you keep iTunes set at say, 128kbps AAC, and set it to mono, it will actually record at only 64 kbps. But because it's merging the two audio channels, you get the same quality for half the file size.
BTW, I downloaded the free song of the week, (all other protected files for me are stored on an external HD that has a bad controller card at the mo), and tried converting. iTunes says no to converting protected tracks as I thought it probably would.
