Make songs ineligible for iCloud (Apple Music)

Just a thought , is there a way to cause songs to become ineligible for iCloud?

The problem which everyone knows about Apple Music is that it will use the iTunes match feature to match up a song you have to the massive library of iTunes.

This becomes an issue with live recordings, covers of songs and remixes.

I have an enormous library of remixes that "match" incorrectly causing it to play the original version of a song.

My thought is there must be some way to change, (possibly in bulk) the music you have to cause it to go ineligible on your Mac and and iCloud. Then it would allow you to upload it back to my iPhone correctly.

not really making sense here.

The idea of being ineligible, is songs do not get uploaded because they fall below 96k bit rate. Not sure if software, or even itunes can re-encode lower than 96... Dunno why u would want to as it affects quality.

if u don't want these songs "matched" incorrectly either adjust the title slightly. or it u have allot of songs don't add them to your library...

The only other way turn off icloud library, and setting for listening on your Mac only, which i take is Not what you want.

I thought ineligible also meant above a particular bit rate. Sometimes even if a song says remix it will match it with the original song or a random remix.

For example if named: The Power (amnak megamix) I will still get the original song regardless of title. It also doesn't do me any good on my computer if I'm at a house party, car or my gym.

It would just be nice to have a simple fix where the songs it truly doesn't know just went to my phone when I manually sync my phone.

Easiest fix would just be giving us a checkbox under the options tab in a song's info page.

But they probably won't do that.

Longer than 2 hours, or above 200 MB as well are ineligible too.

Unfortunately, Apple services are very all-or-nothing. Much like iCloud Photo Library, the music sync is either on or off.

Yeah I lost all of my curated playlist because they were housed on my phone. When I turned off iCloud music library to redownload music to my phone it wiped playlist where it contained a single song that I owned and kept soly those songs on it. Irritating because I may have the Apple Music items saved but if I have a perfect playlist I may not remember the songs or if I shared the playlist those people may have no songs now. Apple Music has good ideas but needs a lot of work.

From now on I will try and edit things on the song until I figure it out

in all best efforts. Apple services are "as is" based on terms and conditions which is how they get around all this "buggy" and mistakes. They use it as best to get it fixed, but in their time, not the user, as user subscribers knowing its "best effort"

I guess it could also be the fact Apple matches "songs" only, and never looks at albums would be a cause as well, but thats not gonna change. so don't expect it to.

Third, Apple music only matches via meta data, not idendication of the actual song, which is also why there would be issues with this.

Itunes match could be a bit better because ITM inspects actual songs *in addition* to meta data, so probably would be more accurate...

Only way i know would be to change the title slightly or completely to force an upload, then once it's upload, change it back..

Doing this for large libraries it not good, but u can get batch rename utilities for this.. The only problem would be there's be no way to mass rename them back in the cloud..

There is a workaround, which worked for iTunes Match. I assume that it will work for Apple Music too. You need two computers which are signed into your account though.

Add a song onto your main iTunes library and it will match it (incorrectly in your case) or upload it. Then go to your second computer and you should see it appear on that library as a track on your iCloud library which is available to download or stream.

Delete this track from this library. You will be asked if you are sure you want to delete it from your iCloud library. Say you are and it will disappear.

Back on your main library, the song should now show up as deleted from iCloud, but it is still on your computer to play and sync. You have effectively excluded it from the iCloud library.

I did this with quite a few albums on iTunes Match. Now I have moved over to Apple Music the files are still showing as deleted, so I assume it still works OK.
