Making a iPad-Macbook videocall with no wifi or mobile data. Is it possible?

Im about to start filming a documentary feature in Chile this July. For a sequence of it we need to make a videocall from an Ipad to a Macbook (or viceversa) but in the location there's no reliable wifi connection nor mobile data.

So, it is possible to set up a local network between those two devices?

In the official mac forum people told me to set up a computer-to-computer network but I can't manage to do it on the Ipad

any help please
