Making a off site back up from my Mac Mini

Hi!

Let me first explain the current situation.
I got one mac mini server which is used for hosting calendars, contacts and has it is used for VPN connections. Also it is used as a file server for serveral client machines (iMacs and Macbooks). The Mac Mini is configured as Raid 1 and I connected a 3 or 4TB external hard drive to back up all clients using time machine.

I want to backup this entire system off site at a relative's home. I have a second Mac Mini (an older one) available and I want to put this device at my relative's house. The only function and purpose for this machine is backing up the other Mac Mini server.

What would you advice be on backing up my server? Which software and hardware would you advice and use?

Don't backup the time machine backups to another site, make new backups. You might look at the CrashPlan application. In addition to backing up to their cloud service you can backup to another machine. The app is free as is machine to machine backups. You only pay if you want the cloud storage.

This would provide you two backup strategies, time machine locally and Crashplan for offsite.
