Hello,

I used to have a simple "handsfree" solution in my car - I used a standard casette adapter and plugged my iPhone in the car stereo. When I make and receive calls, I can hear the other person through the car stereo speakers, and they can generally hear me through my iPhone mic. (I would not say the quality was perfect but at least it worked).
Recently, I got an iPod/iPhone car interface that actually plugs in my stereo, but uses the 30-pin dock connector instead of the headphones output. This way, I could also charge my iPhone, and have a limited iPhone control using the car stereo controls (next/previous track, fw,rev etc..). All was good, except that I cannot hear the call audio... In other words, if my iPhone is connected via dock, the call audio is not transfered to speakers, so I cannot use it as handsfree anymore....
Is it call audio always disabled through the dock connector? I had the same issue at home where I use a standard iphone 3g dock connected to my home stereo.... I cannot hear people calling me if the iphone is docked....
Does anyone know about any solution for this... I tried to search this forum but did not find much on the topic...

Thanks

Thanks,

That's too bad.... hope someone from Apple is listening to this and they can change it in future... Does not make any sense to me to disable call audio through dock... people are very likely to use speakerphone while unit is docked. I am not even sure if the built-in speakers will work in this case...

I have the same problem with my new car adapter for my iPhone, I wrote to Apple requesting to open this up, it's locked via software, it can be undone.

Try letting them know you also want this feature as an ON/OFF feature, not everyone will want it by default. Here's the link to make the request.
