Sure could use some expert Mac Rumors Forum members help here - my daughter's first birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and I wanted to put together a digital collage of pictures we have taken of her since she was born. I identified 19 candidates and went into Photoshop and "cut" her out from the background with the magnetic lasso tool and saved each clipping individually in its own (new) file. Except now that I'm done, I can't seem to shrink them down individually and merge them into one canvas. All guidance accepted and appreciated. . .

Making digital collage in Photoshop. . .

So you have all your images saved in separate .psd files ?
What do you mean by 'can't seem to shrink them down individually...' ?
Create a big blank canvas, set to the size (inches, centimeters) and resolution (for example 300dpi) depending on how you are going to print the final image.
Then open up an image, select all (or use the lasso if you need to cut out portions of it) and paste into your empty canvas. This creates a new layer with your imported image. Select the layer and chose 'scale'...
Another way would be to scale the image before you import it. Go to image size and set the size/resolution you need. Then copy paste into the final canvas.
repeat for all images, arrange the layers if you need to change the order of what is in front/int the back.
Or am I missing somehting ?

I would definitely go with each image on a separate layer. And name the layers since you have so many, it will be easy to organize and edit till you get the layout you like.
What version of photoshop are you using?
If you used any fx (dropshadow, outline, etc) in PS7 you can apply them to all the layers by just dragging and dropping the fx's to each layer - that way you don't have to redo it every time.

I am using Photoshop 7, and yes, I have saved each picture in its own .psd file. It sounds like the "scale" function will do the trick. And thanks for suggesting that I keep each image in its own layer. Thanks for your help!
