I've gone back and forth on whether or not to try iTunes Match and I've decided to go for it.

I have 2 serious concerns; the explicit/clean version issue and the duplicate matching issue.

I've backed up my collection on an external hard drive, so it's there if I need it but I primarily want to listen/create/edit my playlists on my MacBook at home and my PC at work. For $25 it's worth a shot.

I've always cautioned against being an early adopter for anything-Apple, but for $25 I'm going for it.

I'll try to post updates for others on the fence.

Everything uploaded successfully overnight. I'm looking through my collection at home and using this icon guide.

My collection is only 4500 songs and only a handful (20 or so), had a cloud icon of some kind next to it so I'm forcing an Update iTunes Match and that's processing as I type. I'm also syncing my iPhone over Wi-fi.

I'll add more later.

Unfortunately my child's daycare is closed this morning so I can't see how this is going to work on my work PC until this afternoon.

My music was not showing up on my iPhone. When I started the process last night I turned on iTunes Match on the phone but had to turn it on again after the process was complete. Everything is on my phone. So that worked, about as expected. Haven't listened to anything yet so I cannot comment on the 3 serious concerns that I had (with the help of Bear).

I hope you are having better luck than me. I noticed you linked to a thread that I started but got no replies. I never did figure out a solution to the duplicates.

I have one album that is a best of. What iTunes Match did to make the album whole was to piece together the tracks from other albums to make the best of album complete. So I'm listening to this best of, track five starts and all of a sudden the album artwork is from another album by the band.

It's doing this stupid thing that has made me go back to syncing my phone again until iTunes Match stops doing this.

It didn't do this in the beginning back in October when I first tried it.

Everything is showing up on my work PC, so that's slick.

Now to try out some songs and albums and see what kind of real issues I have.

I had faith this part of it would work ... syncing the devices, uploading, etc.

The best of album I tried worked (dave matthews band). The songs with explicit lyrics are clean (50 cent) ...

Notorious BIG is explicit, but it isn't labeled as explicit. Must not have been a match in the iTunes store, which seems odd.

It's interesting that my digital booklets didn't transfer over too. It's content purchased from the iTunes store. Not a big deal. Just interesting.

So, iTunes Match. Not quite ready for the prime time.

Since I have not deleted my original's in my iTunes library at home (in order to upgrade to higher quality files matched on iTunes), I still have the explicit versions.

Not ideal, and needs to be addressed, but not crucial for what I'm doing which is creating playlists at work to upload to my Nano for the gym or running - which I do from my MacBook.

I got tired of fixing all my mismatches and such, so I switched to Google Music. So far, perfect. It should be, since it uploads my correct music, not some voodoo matched versions. :p

I asked Apple to refund my $25, and they gave me five song tokens and told me they're working on fixing it. I guess they *really* don't want me to drop the service, haha. I'll see how it pans out for now. Maybe they'll fix it.

I was using gMusic (do we call it that?) and liked it but wanted the ability to sync playlist. When I got to work this morning all the songs in iTunes were grayed out and I'm performing an iTunes Match Update which is 43 minutes and counting. I didn't add anything or change anything last night. So, this is peculiar.

I may call Apple to get my 5 free songs.

After reading the Steve Jobs biography I'm somewhat surprised this product came out with these flaws, especially after the Mobile Me debacle. Then again, maybe the reality distortion field put this product as 'the greatest' as opposed to 'dog crap'. In my reality, the product is somewhere in between with potential.

Another issue; pausing a song and going back to it results an ! indicating the song is not available. Easy fix, play another song for a second and go back to what you wanted to hear, but still something that needs to be addressed.

Maybe Cook will talk a little about iCloud tomorrow?

I've given up on iTunes Match. Just too many issues to deal with. I'm cool with creating my own playlists and adding music as I see fit.
